On this website, 11foot8.com, a “concerned citizen” posts videos about a low train overpass in Durham, North Carolina. This train overpass has a very low clearance, which is bad news for trucks. Watching the montage of can-openers, crashes, and crunches is quite amusing, but seems to trivialize the problem. I went to college in Westfield, Massachusetts, a town with a similar problem. The railroad bridge on route 10 and 202 has a similar low clearance, and sees lots of crunched trucks. After nearly a century of claming steel victims, this bridge is finally being redesigned to avoid such calamities. You have to wonder how long this will keep going on in North Carolina.
Hopefully long enough to keep seeing amusing videos of tucks slicing open. It… amuses me.
