On the subject of perfect games.

If a man pitches a perfect game, but no umpire is around to call it, has he truly done so?

The answer is yes, of course, and it’s a traveshamockery that Armando Galarraga was robbed of his perfect game on Wednesday.

However, if it leads to better instant replay in baseball, it may mean such an injustice is never served upon the annals of baseball again. A worthy consequence? Perhaps. I loved how he and umpire Jim Joyce handled the aftermath, and perhaps the rules should be changed so that travesties like this do not happen again.

But, hey, Galarraga got a Corvette out of the thing, so maybe it wasn’t so bad after all.
