Today is affectionately known as “truck day” across Route 128 and beyond. It’s the day when the Boston Red Sox’s equipment truck begins its trek down to Fort Myers, Florida, ushering in another season of baseball. Though the cold, frosty grip of winter still has its nails wrenched into the throat of New England, the beginnings of spring are starting to come our way. Baseball, the green grass of the field, the smell of hot dogs and popcorn are all on the way. Delicious!
It’s been an interesting offseason for the Red Sox, to say the least. Spring training is always a great time of year. New prospects and veterans given a second chance duke out for starting jobs. Crazy lineups and positional tomfoolery are not out of the question. Plus, we get Spring Training Dugouts and those are always funny.
I do think it’s the height of irony that an airline sponsors Truck Day, though.
