Cherry Crush review

Yesterday I picked up a 20 ounce bottle of Cherry Crush soda to have with my lunch, a chicken parm grinder. I hadn’t seen Cherry Crush in a long time, and it seems to be making a bit of a resurgence in the Northeast. If I’ve ever had a Cherry Crush, it’s been such a long time that I just can’t remember it. So I cracked open the bottle with an open mind, ready to taste the soda.

Unfortunately, Pepsi Throwback has spoiled me a bit. The first taste of Cherry Crush inspires a thick, syrupy, not very carbonated taste. Much like orange Crush in plastic bottles (as opposed to glass bottles, which is a slightly different formulation), it’s got an overpowering sweetness. Truthfully, it tasted a lot like a cherry version of Strawberry Crush, which you may remember my review of many moons ago. Overpowering sugar without much of a tart cherry taste. Very underwhelming. Boylan Bottle Works black cherry will remain my favorite Cherry soda (and if you like cherry, I would highly recommend finding some), with IBC Black Cherry coming in second.

Speaking of Cherry, we’ll get Cherry Dr. Pepper in here soon enough. I can’t help but be compelled to buy things that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley tells me to.
